ABILENE, Texas – Ryan Morrow and Greg Herbst each drove in two runs, and pitcher Skye Severns remained perfect on the season as the eighth-ranked St. Mary’s baseball team knocked off Abilene Christian, 6-2, at Crutcher Scott Field on Wednesday.

Morrow (Sr., Bulverde, Texas), Herbst (Sr., San Antonio) and fellow senior Weston Baros (Sr., San Antonio) all produced RBI singles in the sixth, breaking open a 1-1 game to help the Rattlers (31-8) win their second straight.

Skye Severns (Jr., Claremont, Calif.) struck out two, scattered four hits and gave up two runs in five innings to improve to 6-0.

St. Mary’s will return to action at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday, opening up a three-game series with a chance to clinch the regular-season Heartland Conference title. The Rattlers are 18-3 in league play.

Against Abilene Christian (21-16), first baseman Tyler Migl (Jr., San Antonio) helped give the Rattlers a quick 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first inning. But the Wildcats struck in the third, evening the score at 1-1.

That’s when the Rattlers’ trio of seniors went to work, rattling off hits to built a 4-1 advantage. Though Abilene scored one in the bottom of the sixth, St. Mary’s tacked on two more in the seventh to build enough cushion.

Migl finished 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Morrow went 2 for 4.
