San Antonio – St. Mary’s star closer Sammy Rivas has been named to the inaugural 2011 College Baseball Lineup D-II All-Star Team, it was announced earlier this week.
Rivas (Sr., San Antonio), whose shining 0.22 ERA has played a leading role in sparking the Rattlers’ (46-9) remarkable season, was one of 36 student-athletes from across the nation to be named to the squad.
Rivas improved to 5-0 on the season in Friday’s 12-inning victory over Incarnate Word, in which the closer pitched the final three innings without giving up a run. He also has posted 14 saves to go along with a 41-10 strikeout-walk ratio this season.
