ODESSA, Texas – Seven St. Mary’s baseball players drove in runs and six crossed home plate, as the Rattlers beat Texas-Permian Basin 8-4 on Saturday.

Right fielder Jason Garcia (Sr., Falfurrias, Texas) went 3 for 5 with an RBI to lead the No. 8 Rattlers at the plate, while reliever Kyle Bumpas picked up the win to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Bumpas lasted 4.2 innings, striking out one without giving up an earned run in his appearance.

St. Mary’s improved to 30-8 and 18-3 in Heartland Conference play on the year, while UTPB dropped to 15-20 overall and 10-11 in conference.

The Rattlers built a 5-0 lead by the fourth inning, scoring twice in the second, once in the third and twice in the fourth. The Falcons responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, but it wasn’t enough against a St. Mary’s arsenal that would not quit.
