The St. Mary’s University Music Department performed an original opera Crooked Stitches based on a short story by award-winning author Diane Bertrand on Nov. 4 and 5.

Both performances were in the Treadaway Recital Hall on the St. Mary’s campus, with an opening night fund raising dinner at 6 p.m. on Nov. 4.

The music was written by Brother Mike Sullivan, music professor. Crooked Stitches is about the interactions and relationships of three generations of women and the family’s response to dementia, bringing both humor and pathos to the storytelling. Jacob Cantu and Richard Slocum are the directors.
