SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – St. Mary’s tennis standouts Andrej Klipa and Angelique De Oliveira each were knocked out in the second round of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships over the weekend.
Klipa (Jr., Belgrade, Serbia), of the men’s tennis team, fell to Incarnate Word’s Leury Arias 6-2, 6-0 in the second round of the men’s 64 draw, while De Oliveira fell in the same round of the women’s 64 draw with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat to SBU’s Mehak Singh.
In the women’s B draw, St. Mary’s Kelly Cooper fell to Abilene Christian’s Laura Mongin 6-1, 6-0 in the second round, and Denissia Gonzalez (Fr., Houston) was topped by CU’s Florencia Tornero 6-4, 6-4.
