San Antonio – Before an excited crowd hanging out on the embankment that sits adjacent to the St. Mary’s Tennis Courts, the Rattlers’ men’s tennis season got underway against Our Lady of the Lake last Friday.

And the Rattlers got going in style, clipping Our Lady of the Lake 6-4 in the opener.

In doubles action, Marcin Marczewski (Jr., Warsaw, Poland) and Jake Williams (Jr., Dallas) teamed up to beat OLLU’s duo of Juan Anteuga and Pedro Anteuga by the score of 8-6.

Meanwhile, Guy Rutten (Sr., Almelo, Netherlands) and Andrej Klipa (So., Belgrade, Serbia) were narrowly clipped 5-8 by Luis Rovira and Santia Padilla.

Rattlers brothers Nestor Moreno (Jr., Bogota, Colombia) and Nicolas Moreno (Bogota, Colombia) prevailed 8-2 over Jessie Rojas and Joell Moreno.

In singles action, Marczewski lost the tiebreak to Rovira 4-10 after clawing back from a 6-7 defeat in the first set with a 7-6 victory in the second.

Klipa, Rutten, Williams and Carlos Olea (Fr., Matamoros, Mexico) all were victorious. Klipa defeated Juan Anteuga 3,1, while Rutten won over Santi Padilla 1, 1. Williams prevailed over Jessie Rojas 2, 0, and Olea beat Joell Moreno 3, 1.

Meanwhile, Nestor Moreno fell to Pedro Anteuga 4-6, 2-6, while Nicolas Moreno lost the tiebreak to Remero Trevizo 4-10.
