San Antonio – St. Mary’s men’s basketball star Kevin Kotzur has been named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball South Central Region Second Team.
Kotzur, a sophomore from La Vernia, Texas, was one of six players named to the second team, as voted on by Division II sports information and media relations directors.
Kotzur had a phenomenal season for St. Mary’s, leading the Heartland Conference in scoring (17.9 points per game) and rebounding (8.3 boards per game), while leading the league in field-goal percentage (67.9 percent). His field-goal percentage ranks fifth among all players in NCAA Division II.
Kotzur, a three-time Heartland Conference Player of the Week, was named to the All-Conference First Team. He scored in double figures in 26 of the Rattlers’ 27 games, helping the team finish 14-12 and earn a berth in the Heartland Conference Tournament.
