San Antonio – St. Mary’s star forward Kevin Kotzur has been named the Heartland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight week, the league announced Monday.

Kotzur (Jr., La Vernia, Texas) averaged 22.3 points and 9.0 rebounds over three games last week, and had the game-winning putback bucket with five seconds left to cap a comeback from a 23-point deficit in a road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Kotzur, who has scored in double digits all six games this year, posted a double-double in the victory over Kingsville, and later scored 18 points in 19 minutes in a blowout win against Dallas Christian. He shot 63.8 percent from the floor during the week.

For the season, Kotzur leads the Heartland Conference in scoring (22.0 points per game), rebounding (9.7 rebounds per game) and shooting percentage (.670 percent).
