St. Mary’s freshman Kaitie Kasperitis has quite the stats through the first five games of her Rattler career – and now, those stats even includes the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, the league announced today.

Kasperitis (Corpus Christi, Texas) struck a goal in back-to-back games last week for the Rattlers (3-1-1), including what proved to be the difference in a 2-1 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State last Sunday. Her goal in a loss to East Central was netted three minutes into the first half, which happened to be the first game this season she became a starter.

But Kasperitis’ scoring success is not contained to the past two games. She leads the team in total goals with four, her first coming within 20 seconds of when her cleats hit the field as a Rattler for the first time.

The young player is showing the talent that got her recruited as a Rattler, as she also has nine shots on goal.

The St. Mary’s women’s soccer team and the league’s offensive player of the week take on Texas A&M International in their first conference game at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Northside ISD Soccer Field, where Kasperitis’ history suggests another skilled performance could be in store.
