San Antonio – Talk about finishing up the fall portion of the women’s golf season in style.
Following this week’s third-place finish at the 2011 Fall Cardinal Classic, St. Mary’s senior Alejandra Cantu has been named the Heartland Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Cantu, a Mission, Texas native, stormed up the leader board in the final round of Incarnate Word’s tournament, shooting a 3-over-par 75 to lead the Lady Rattlers to second place in the team standings.
Cantu shot 158 for the tournament.
The event marked St. Mary’s final tournament of the fall schedule. The Lady Rattlers will resume competition in the spring.
