TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Unable to follow Monday’s hot start by soaring any further up the standings, the St. Mary’s women’s golf team settled in at 10th place in Tuesday’s final round of the 13th Annual NSU Classic.

Alejandra Cantu (Sr., Mission, Texas), the Lady Rattler’s No. 1 golfer, led the squad with a second-round score of 83 to finish tied for 27th place individually at the Cherry Springs Golf Club. She carded a 163 for the tournament.

Cami Furgeson (Jr., Newcastle, Calif.) tied for 31st place after matching Cantu’s second-round score, finishing a shot behind Cantu for the event.

The two helped St. Mary’s score 661 as a team. The host team, Northeastern State, won the event after shooting 597. NSU’s Kelsey Kirkpatrick took the individual title after carding a 144.

Bailey Furgeson (Fr., Newcastle, Calif.) finished right behind St. Mary’s top two finishers, shooting 165 to tie for 35th place. Meanwhile, Julia Dickens (Jr., Fredericksburg, Texas) shot 171 to tie for 50th place, and Daryn Petermann (So., Comfort, Texas) shot 178.

St. Mary’s won’t return to the course until Oct. 16, when the squad will travel to Dallas for the DBU Classic.
