San Antonio – Skye Severns pitched circles around one of the nation’s top teams last week, frustrating Tarleton State’s batters in a 17-2 rout.

On Monday, the St. Mary’s junior pitcher from Claremon, Calif., was named the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week for his fine performance.

In his only start of the week, Severns picked up a victory in a 17-2 win over No. 15 Tarleton State. He pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out two while giving up just four hits.

He joins Matt Holland (Sr., Shreveport, La.) and Greg Herbst (Sr., San Antonio) as the third St. Mary’s player to earn Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week honors this season.

For the season, Severns is 3-0 over six appearances, five of which were starts. He also has a save to go along with a 4.71 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
