San Antonio – They’ve won eight straight and can lay claim to one of the country’s hottest bats.

There’s a reason people are taking notice to the St. Mary’s Rattlers baseball team.

The Rattlers, 12-3 overall and 8-0 in Heartland Conference, are ranked 11th in the nation in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll. St. Mary’s moved up five spots from last week, when it came in at No. 16.

This comes days after junior first baseman Tyler Migl (San Antonio) was named the National Hitter of the Week by the NCBWA and the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week for the second straight week.

St. Mary’s plays Abilene Christian, which dropped out of the Top 25 this week, at 4 p.m. today at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium.
