San Antonio – The St. Mary’s baseball opener has been delayed.

Again.

The arctic weather has caused Friday’s game against Newman to be pushed back to 12 p.m. Sunday, meaning the Rattlers will now open their season with a doubleheader against Newman starting at 12 p.m. Saturday.

The Rattlers were originally supposed to open the season against Abilene Christian on Feb. 1, but the game got postponed to March 1 due to travel concerns associated with the harsh weather.

St. Mary’s, which went 40-19 en route to winning the Heartland Conference last season, is ranked 18th in the nation and fourth in the South Central region.
