Earlier this month at contests held in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Black Law Students Association (BLSA) convention in San Antonio, both
St. Mary’s University School of Law mock trial and moot court teams advanced to the national finals of their respective competitions next month in Houston.

For the third consecutive year, a St. Mary’s team has advanced to the national finals of the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition. The lineup of Brian Cromeens, Christian Johnson, Lauren Cadilac and Heather Marcus narrowly lost the Rocky Mountain Region Black Law Students Association Mock Trial Competition to top-ranked Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in the final round. However, St. Mary’s third-year law student Cromeens was named the region’s Best Oral Advocate. St. Mary’s BLSA mock trial teams are coached by Adjunct Professor Daryl Harris.

In the 2011 Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition, also a part of the Rocky Mountain Region BLSA convention, the team of Lynette Boggs and Natalee Marion placed third earning a trip to nationals. St. Mary’s BLSA moot court team is coached by Adjunct Professor Ricky Poole.
