San Antonio – Honored for the kind of defensive work that can sometimes go unnoticed, St. Mary’s University women’s soccer player Ashley Condrin was named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Condrin, a junior midfielder from Trophy Club, Texas, played every minute of both double-overtimes the Rattlers played last week, totaling nearly 220 minutes on the field in all.

The Rattlers went 1-0-1 during the week, knocking off previously undefeated Lubbock Christian University in double overtime before tying West Texas A&M, the 19th-ranked team in the country.

St. Mary’s (3-4-1) surrendered three goals during the week, but Condrin’s fine defensive work helped limit the opponents’ looks.
