San Antonio – St. Mary’s University Head Women’s Soccer Coach Corwyn Ritch announced on Wednesday the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the Rattlers this fall.

Amanda Cardoza (Fr., Midfielder, El Paso, Texas) played the last four years for coach Andrea Esparza at Coronado High School. She was a four-time all-district honoree and a four time all-city selection. She also ran for the track and field team.

Jamey Coronado (Fr., Midfielder, San Antonio) was a four-year varsity letterwinner for coach Stacey Reyes at John Marshall High School. She was a three-time all-district honoree, including first team honors in 2009.  She was selected as the Most Improved Player by her team for her junior season. Coronado helped lead MHS to a pair of district championships and one bi-district title. She also ran for the track and field squad.  Off the field, she earned Honor Roll recognition.

Claire Etter (Fr., Midfielder, Boerne, Texas) was a four-year standout for coach Samara Weinstein at Samuel V. Champion High School. She was named Class 4A All-State as a senior. Etter twice earned all-district and all-region honors. She helped lead CHS to an area championship in 2008 and regional championships in 2009 and 2010. Off the field, she graduated 10th in her class, was a member of the Spanish Honor Society and was an AP Scholar.

Rosileen Ferioli (Fr., Forward/Midfielder, Cypress, Texas) was a two-time honorable mention all-district selection for coach Alex McMorris at Waller High School. Off the field, she was a Texas Scholar and earned Honor Roll recognition.

Ashley Leighton (Fr., Midfielder, Houston) played for coach Kersten Mullan at J. Frank Dobie High School, where she was a four-time All-District 22-5A honoree. She was named District Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, and then was selected as District Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. She was named District Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior. Leighton scored 18 goals her junior season. Off the field, she earned Honor Roll recognition.

Felicia Lombardo (Fr., Goalkeeper, New Braunfels, Texas) has been one of the top goalkeepers in the San Antonio area over the last four years. She was a four-year starter for coach Dustin Gold and a three-time all-district selection. Lombardo was also a two-time all-region pick. Off the field, she received Honor Roll recognition and was an Academic All-District Honoree.

Melina Macias (Fr., Midfielder, San Antonio) was a three-time all-district selection for coach David Stonestreet at John Paul Stevens High School. She also ran on the cross country team. Off the field, she received Honor Roll recognition, was a member of the Spanish Honor Society and was a member the National Honor Society.

Amanda Paniagua (Fr., San Antonio) earned all-district honors for coach Scott Davis, while attending Communications Arts High School. She helped lead her team to three playoff appearances. Paniagua was also a member of the volleyball team.

St. Mary’s is home to 13 Academic All-Americans and 225 student-athletes who have earned regional or national academic awards. St. Mary’s student-athletes graduation rate is 63 percent, higher than the NCAA Division II average of 55 percent.
