Dallas – The St. Mary’s University women’s golf team is in 15th place after shooting a 356 in the first round of the Dallas Baptist University Classic.
Ursula Perez (Sr., San Antonio) led the way with a 14-over-par 86 at the Golf Club of Dallas.
Cami Furgeson (So., Newcastle, Calif.) and Alejandra Cantu (Jr., Mission, Texas) were three strokes behind Perez at 89.
The final round will resume Tuesday.
St. Mary’s had 65 percent of its athletes named to conference, regional and/or national honor rolls this past year. St. Mary’s student-athletes graduation rate is 63 percent, higher than the NCAA Division II average of 55 percent.
