GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Jenna Wessels placed 58th individually, helping St. Mary’s University to a 15th place finish at the Grand Canyon Invitational, Tuesday afternoon at the Palm Valley Golf Club.

Wessels (Sr., Katy, Texas) fired a two-round total of 170 to place in a tie for 58th overall. Taking overall medalist honors was Carla Cooper of Tarleton State University, who shot a seven-under par 137 to win by 11 strokes.

Alejandra Cantu (So., Mission, Texas) was 61st with a 172, Julia Dickens (Fr., Fredericksburg, Texas) was 68th with a 175, Cami Ferguson (Fr., New Castle, Calif.) finished 72nd with a 177 and Ursula Perez (Jr., San Antonio) was 74th with a 179.

Tarleton State University took the team title with a 592 for the two-round tournament, followed by host Grand Canyon University with a 623. Cal-State University-Monterrey Bay was third with a 625, while St. Mary’s took 15th place with a 691.

The tournament was the final regular season event for the Rattlers. St. Mary’s will compete next in the Heartland Conference Tournament on Monday, April 19, in Edmond, Okla.
