San Antonio – Jenna Wessels fired a 78 in her final round as a St. Mary’s University Rattler, helping her finish 11th individually, and the Rattlers to place sixth at the 2010 Heartland Conference Women’s Golf Tournament, Tuesday at the Rose Creek Golf Club.

Wessels (Sr., Katy, Texas) finished the tournament with a two-round total of 158 (80-78) to tie for 11th overall. She finished 12 strokes behind Emily Kvinta of St. Edward’s University, who took medalist honors with a 146 (72-74). Finishing second overall was Kirby Baker of St. Edward’s with a 147.

Ursula Perez (Jr., San Antonio) was 20th overall with a 161 (80-81), while Alejandra Cantu (So., Mission, Texas) took 25th with a 166 (87-79). Julia Dickens (Fr., Fredericksburg, Texas) was 29th with a 170 (90-80), while fellow freshman Cami Ferguson (Fr., New Castle, Calif.) was 30th with a 172 (87-85).

In the team standings, St. Edward’s took first place with a two-round total of 592 (297-295), finishing 28 strokes ahead of the University of the Incarnate Word. Newman University was third with a 624, Dallas Baptist University was fourth with a 628, the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith was fifth with a 639, St. Mary’s was sixth with a 652 (334-318), Lincoln University was seventh with a 675, Oklahoma Panhandle State University was eighth with an 827 and Texas A&M International University was ninth with a 832.
