Durant, Okla. – Foiled by a school-record performance from a Southeastern Oklahoma State University player, St. Mary’s University fell 3-0 in the first match of the Wells Fargo Shootout on Friday night.

Still without Stephanie Flores (Jr., San Antonio), who is out with an illness, St. Mary’s dropped the tightly contested match 20-25, 16-25, 19-25 at Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Brittany McDonald led Southeastern with 17 kills and a school-record .850 hitting percentage (17 of 20).

Karlie Ortega (Fr., San Antonio) led the Rattlers (6-9) with nine kills, while Kori McCarver (Sr., San Antonio) had a team-high .417 attack percentage to go along with a team-leading 27 assists.

Allie Murray (So., San Antonio) had 16 digs, while Ortega added 15.

St. Mary’s continues play in the Wells Fargo Shootout with a pair of matches Saturday.
