San Antonio – According to a report released this week by online salary-tracker PayScale.com, St. Mary’s University graduates’ mid-career salaries (long-term earning potential) place them 59th among 305 Southern Colleges. This ranking places St. Mary’s University first in San Antonio and fourth among Texas’ private colleges and universities.

As the up and down economy continues to make headlines and impact lives, a degree from St. Mary’s is helping our graduates weather the uncertainty. According to PayScale.com’s report released Thursday, July 22, St. Mary’s graduates’ mid-career median pay is $79,100. This is based on annual pay for graduates with bachelor’s degrees and on average 15 years of work experience.

A college degree obviously goes a long way in today’s job market. St. Mary’s affordable, quality education rooted in academic excellence and a commitment to community service is clearly valued by employers. PayScale.com’s survey also showed that degrees that had the highest earning power were in the field of engineering, followed by mathematics, physics and economics. St. Mary’s offers degrees in all of these top fields through the School of Science, Engineering and Technology and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

St. Mary’s is also home to the Bill Greehey School of Business and the School of Law. In total, St. Mary’s offers more than 90 majors leading to undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees.
