Las Vegas – Taryn Munoz tossed a two-hit shutout in the first game, then St. Mary’s University rallied from three run deficit in the second game to sweep their first two games at the Desert Stinger Classic, hosted by Montana State University-Billings.

Munoz (Sr., Bulverde, Texas) picked up her third win of the season against no losses against Colorado School of Mines. Munoz also tossed her third straight complete game and first shutout of the season. In the second game of the tournament, the Rattlers rallied from an 8-5 deficit in the fifth inning to win 9-8. Crystal Keller (Fr., Castroville) picked up her first win as a Rattler in relief.

With the wins, the Rattlers improved to 7-0 this season. The 7-0 start is the second best in school history, behind only the 8-0 start of the 2001 team. St. Mary’s will return to action on Saturday at noon when they face Western New Mexico University. They will follow that up by playing New Mexico Highlands at 2 p.m.
