San Antonio – Taryn Munoz allowed just one hit over six innings, while Lauren Miller had four hits to lead the offense as St. Mary’s University defeated Lincoln University, 7-0, to complete a sweep of the Heartland Conference softball series Saturday afternoon at St. Mary’s University softball field.

Munoz (Sr., Bulverde, Texas) improved to 12-3 with the victory, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 4 in six innings of work. Crystal Keller (Fr., Castroville, Texas) came on in relief allowed just one baserunner in tossing a scoreless inning.

After three scoreless innings, the Rattlers broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kelly Baker (Jr., Arlington, Texas) keyed the big inning with a two-run single. Arlynda Flores (Sr., Uvalde, Texas) and Katie Nichols (Fr., San Marcos, Texas) also had run-scoring singles in the inning.

Miller (Jr., Baytown, Texas) had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored. She was the only Rattler with more than one hit in the game.

With the win St. Mary’s improved to 19-8 overall and 6-0 in Heartland Conference play. The Rattlers have won three in a row and six of their last eight games. Lincoln fell to 0-10, 0-6. St. Mary’s will return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Emporia, Kan., to face Emporia State University in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
