Canyon, Texas – West Texas A&M’s goal in the 27th minute was the difference Friday, as the St. Mary’s University men’s soccer team fell 1-0 in a non-conference game on the road.

Alfredo Chavez took a through pass and curved a shot into the lower corner past goalkeeper David Schmelzer (Fr., Castroville, Texas) for the decisive goal.

The Rattlers (2-8) attempted seven shots, including two on goal, but could not find the back of the net. West Texas A&M got off 16 shots.

St. Mary’s gets back on the field at Eastern New Mexico University at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
