San Antonio – St. Mary’s University head men’s soccer coach Que Willis announced on Sunday the signing of Joshua Stevens and Nick Garza to a National Letters of Intent to join the Rattlers, starting with the 2010 season.

Stevens (5’10”, Midfielder, San Antonio) will join the Rattlers after a strong career at San Antonio’s John Marshall High School. Stevens was a first team all-district honoree and served as team captain for the Rams. He helped lead MHS to the bi-district championship in 2008 and 2009. Off the field, Stevens earned Honor Roll recognition.

Garza (5’9″, Midfielder, San Antonio) was a four-year letterwinner at John Paul Stevens High School, playing for coach Marc Helkey. He was a two-time all-district honoree and received ESPN Rise Magazine all-area honors. Garza helped lead SHS to a pair of district championships, one bi-district title and an area finalist berth.

St. Mary’s finished the 2009 season fourth in the Heartland Conference standings. Adam Villanueva (Sr., DeSoto, Texas) was one of five Rattlers to earn All-Heartland Conference honors. Stephen Gamez (Fr., San Antonio) was named Freshman of the Year, Kyle Farrell (Sr., Edmond, Okla.) and Villanueva were named first team All-Heartland Conference, while Brett Collier (Sr., Schertz, Texas) and Joseph Diaz (Jr., San Antonio) earned second team recognition.
