Abilene, Texas – Krystal Keller allowed just one earned run in a nine-inning complete game and Chelsea Wenske hit the go-ahead double in the ninth inning as St. Mary’s University rallied for a 5-4 win over Abilene Christian University in non-conference softball action Tuesday night.

Keller (Fr., La Coste, Texas) allowed just 1 earned run on 10 hits and 1 walk, while striking out one in her best performance as a Rattler. She became the second Rattler to toss a nine-inning complete game this season.

Christina Rodriguez (Fr., San Antonio) smacked a solo homerun, while Wenske (Jr., Shiner, Texas) hit the RBI double in the top of the ninth inning that gave the Rattlers the lead for good. Sarah Perez (Fr., San Marcos, Texas) sealed the victory with a ground out, scoring Heather Monroe (Sr., New Braunfels, Texas).

In the first game of the day, Abilene Christian took an 8-3 lead after three innings, then held off a St. Mary’s rally for a 12-8 win. Taryn Munoz (Sr., Bulverde, Texas) suffered the loss, falling to 16-6 this season.

With the split, St. Mary’s is now 27-13 overall this season. The win broke a three-game losing streak for the Rattlers. ACU is now 16-23. The Rattlers will return to action on Friday, when they host the University of the Incarnate Word in a doubleheader at St. Mary’s.
