Odessa, Texas – Another game, another goal for St. Mary’s University women’s soccer player Carolina Hernandez.

The senior forward from San Antonio scored in the 20th minute Saturday to propel the Rattlers to a pivotal 1-0 victory on the road against the University of Texas-Permian Basin.

The goal, a header from the middle of the box, was assisted by a punt from goalkeeper Felicia Lombardo (Fr., New Braunfels, Texas). It marked Hernandez’s seventh goal over the past eight games.

The Falcons got off 21 shots, including eight on goal, but Lombardo would have none of it. She recorded five stops on the day.

St. Mary’s improved to 7-6-1 overall with a 4-2 mark in the Heartland Conference.
