San Antonio – St. Mary’s University women’s basketball player Kristin Williams was named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Mallory Moeller received Heartland Conference Academic Student-Athlete of the Week recognition.

Williams (Jr., English Major, Kansas City, Mo.) helped St. Mary’s to a perfect record of 3-0 last week, averaging a double-double with 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Against Texas A&M-International University, she scored 10 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, while hitting on 5-of-11 shots from the field. She followed that up with 15 points and 10 rebounds against St. Edward’s University, making 6-of-13 shots from the field. Williams had a strong all-around game against Newman University (Wichita, Kan.), picking up 8 points, 7 rebounds and a season-high 5 steals.

For the season, Williams is averaging 11.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. She is hitting on 41.2 percent of her shots from the field. She has reached double figures in scoring in 12 of 17 games and has eight double-doubles. Her 18 rebounds against The University of Texas of the Permian Basin on Dec. 19 tied the St. Mary’s NCAA Division II single-game record.

Williams ranks 11th in the Heartland Conference in points per game; she is second in rebounding and is 15th in field goal percentage.
 
Moeller (Jr., Seguin, Texas) has 3.37 grade point average, while majoring in exercise and sports science, and has been involved in numerous community service activities, including the “Dig Pink” cancer research fundraiser, outreach to local elementary and middle schools and St. Mary’s Continuing the Heritage Community Service Day. Moeller is also a member of the St. Mary’s Volleyball Team.

On the Rattlers basketball team, she has played in eight games since December, but has shown improvement in a short time. She had her best week of the season, averaging 6.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. She reached double figures in scoring for the first time this season against St. Edward’s, hitting on 5-of-7 shots from the field. She also pulled down 3 rebounds. In the Rattlers win against Texas A&M-International University, she scored 7 points and pulled down 2 rebounds. Against Newman she had 2 points and 5 rebounds.

For the season, Moeller is averaging 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, coming off the bench. She is making 50.0 percent of her shots from the field.

St. Mary’s is 12-5 overall and 5-1 in Heartland Conference play this season. The Rattlers will battle cross-town rival, University of the Incarnate Word, on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at UIW. The Cardinals lead the Heartland Conference with a 6-0 record.
