Evansville, Ind. – An ice-cold shooting performance did not do the Lady Rattlers any favors Sunday.

Following a competitive first half in which the St. Mary’s women’s basketball team led the University of Southern Indiana most of the way, the Rattlers lost their touch in an eventual 61-48 loss in the USI Thanksgiving Classic.

Mareta Bailey and DeAnna Patterson led the Rattlers with 11 points apiece, while Kristen Williams added 11 rebounds as the Rattlers fell to 4-3 on the season.

Bailey (Sr., Grand Prairie, Texas) hit a jumper that put St. Mary’s back up 20-19 with 5:30 left in the first half. But the Rattlers wouldn’t hit another shot the rest of the half, going 0 for 8 from the floor, as Southern Indiana posted a 12-0 run to lead 31-19 at the break.

DeAnna Patterson (Jr., Converse, Texas) drained a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 43-40 with 9:16 remaining, but the Rattlers would draw no closer.

St. Mary’s shot 29.2 percent from the floor, connecting on 14 of 48 shots. The Rattlers wrapped up the USI Thanksgiving Classic with a 1-1 mark after beating Bellarmine on Saturday.

They to the court on Tuesday, when they host Incarnate Word at 6 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
