San Antonio – St. Mary’s University took advantage of eight Texas A&M University-Kingsville errors to pull away late for a 15-10 victory in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium.

St. Mary’s took an early 8-0 lead, including seven runs in the second inning and never trailed in the game. TAMUK pulled to within 10-7 after scoring a run in the top of the eighth inning. However, the Rattlers responded with six runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth to put the game away.

Eight different Rattlers had at least one hit in the game, led by James Hipp (Sr., Uvalde, Texas) with 2 hits, including his second homerun. Weston Baros (Jr., San Antonio) had 2 hits, including a double. Roman Gomez (Fr., Alice, Texas) picked up his second win as a Rattler in his second start of the season. He is now 2-0 this season. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits in 5.2 innings of work.

With the victory, St. Mary’s broke a three-game losing streak and improved to 22-10 this season. TAMUK fell to 19-17. The Rattlers will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Austin to face St. Edward’s University in a Heartland Conference doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
