San Antonio – St. Mary’s University women’s golf coach Wes Skidmore announced on Wednesday the signing of Newcastle, Calif., native Camile Ferguson to a national letter of intent to join the Rattlers for the 2009-2010 academic year. Ferguson is the first signee for the Rattlers for next season

Ferguson (5’5″, Fr., Newcastle, Calif.) was a four-year letterwinnner for coach Hal Steinback at Del Oro High School. She was a four-time all-league selection and had the lowest stroke average on the team her junior and senior years. She was the Sierra Foothill League Champion four straight years and was the CIF Division Champion for four years as well. Off the course she was active in the community, serving as a Life Skills Instructor for the First Tee of Greater Sacramento and was a golf instructor for Roseville Parks and Recreation Department. She earned Academic Honor Roll recognition. Ferguson plans to major in English communications.

The Rattlers finished the 2008-2009 season with their best showing, finishing second at the Heartland Conference Championships on April 20-21 at Horseshoe Bay. Ursula Perez (So., San Antonio), Amanda Anderson (Sr., San Antonio) and Jenna Wessels (Jr., Katy) were all named All-Heartland Conference for the Rattlers.
