POTTSBORO – Jenna Wessels finished eighth overall, while Ursula Perez took 13th to lead St. Mary’s University to an eighth place finish at the Pepsi Lady Lion Invitational, played at the Tanglewood Resort.

Wessels (Jr., Katy) shot a two-round total of 167 (84-83) to tie for eighth place overall. Perez (So., San Antonio) tied for 13th, just two strokes back with a 169 (84-85). Amanda Anderson (Sr., San Antonio) and Alejandra Cantu (Fr., Mission) tied for 58th with identical 187s, while Erika Patterson (Fr., San Antonio) was 66th with a 191.

Raelyn Smith of Angelo State University took medalist honors with a 152. Nicola Race of Redlands Community College was second with a 154, while Kass McGrath of Cameron and Maria Jimenez of the University of Central Oklahoma tied for third with a 158.

Redlands Community College took team honors at the event, defeating the University of Central Oklahoma 654 to 667. Cameron University was third with a 670, William Woods University was fourth with a 681, Angelo State was fifth with a 683, Tyler Junior College and Texas A&M University-Commerce tied for sixth with 705s and St. Mary’s was eighth with a 710.

St. Mary’s will return to action on April 6 in Phoenix, Ariz., at the Grand Canyon Invitational.
