San Antonio – St. Mary’s University was nearly flawless in rolling past Millers University for a 25-13, 25-13, 24-26, 25-10, victory to earn a split in volleyball action on the second day of the St. Mary’s/Texas MedClinic Invitational at Bill Greehey Arena on Friday.

In the first match of the day for the Rattlers, St. Mary’s dominated Millersville University statistically. The Rattlers picked up a 25-13, 25-13, 24-26, 25-10 victory. The Rattlers had 45 kills against just 17 errors and picked up 11 blocks in the victory. Defensively, the Rattlers held the Marauders to just 19 kills against 24 attack errors.

Luisa Rodrigues (Jr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had her first double-double as a Rattler, with 10 kills and 14 digs. Kori McCarver (Jr., San Antonio) also had 10 kills, while Stephanie Flores (So., San Antonio) led the defense with 21 digs.

In their second match of the day, the Rattlers took the first set against 16th-ranked Florida Southern College, but fell in three sets, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18. Stephanie Crowell (Sr., The Woodlands) led a balanced Rattler attack with eight kills. She was one of six Rattlers with at least six kills in the match.

In other action at the tournament on Friday, Metropolitan State University defeated Millersville in three sets, 25-7, 25-15, 25-13. Florida Southern rallied from a two sets to none to defeat the University of Central Oklahoma, 20-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-13, 17-15. Metro State remained undefeated, picking up a four-set victory over Central Oklahoma, 25-20, 25-15, 22-25, 25-23.

With the split, St. Mary’s is now 1-2 this season. The Rattlers will return to action on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when they take on Metropolitan State College.
