Warrensburg, Mo. – St. Mary’s University continued its recent struggles, dropping two matches at the Peggy Martin Classic in volleyball action Saturday at the UCM Multipurpose Facility.

In the opening match, the Rattlers faced the University of Missouri at St. Louis. The Rattlers took the lead in the first set, but a 5-1 run late in the set helped lead UMSL to a 25-20 win. They cruised from there, winning sets two and three, 25-14, 25-12. Katelyn Kershner (Jr., San Antonio) led the way in the match, picking up seven kills.

In the second match of the day, the Rattlers fell to tournament host, the University of Central Missouri., 25-14, 25-16, 25-11. Kirsten Chapman (So., Jourdanton) led the Rattlers with seven kills, while Stephanie Crowell (Sr., The Woodlands) had five kills.

St. Mary’s fell to 1-9 this season with the losses. The Rattlers will wrap up play at the Peggy Martin Classic with a match at 10 a.m. against Pittsburg State.
