San Antonio – Lia Provence picked up six hits and Arlynda Flores smacked her sixth homerun of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Tarleton State University swept a doubleheader against St. Mary’s University, 3-0, 3-1, in non-conference softball action Tuesday afternoon at the Tarleton Softball Complex.

Provence (So., Bastrop) had two hits in the first game, and then went 4-for-4 in the second game, but the rest of the Rattlers had just six hits in the doubleheader. Flores (Jr., Uvalde) went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun in the second game, the only run of the doubleheader for the Rattlers.

Flores took the loss in the first game, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out four in a complete game. She fell to 2-6 this season. Taryn Munoz (Jr., Bulverde) took the loss in game two, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out two.

With the losses, St. Mary’s fell to 6-15 this season. Tarleton State improved to 14-7 with the sweep. The Rattlers will return to action this Friday when they host Newman University in a Heartland Conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at Rattler Field.
