St. Mary’s University School of Law hosted the 2009 National Finals of the Arbitration Competition, conducted by the ABA Law Student Division and the National Arbitration Forum, on Jan.23-24. Teams from fourteen law schools, winners of their regional competitions, participated in the contest.

The semi-final and final rounds were held on Jan. 24, at the law school’s state-of-the-art courtroom.  The law school’s Board of Advocates provided the essential logistical support for this national competition.

“The competition provides another opportunity to showcase the school’s strong and nationally-recognized reputation as a school dedicated to advocacy skills,” said Dave Schlueter, St. Mary’s law professor and director of Advocacy Programs. “The competition also provides the Board of Advocates with an opportunity to host coaches and students from other law schools.”
