ABILENE – Taryn Munoz allowed just four hits while tossing a complete game win and Sade Moore led the offense as St. Mary’s University defeated Northeastern State University 9-2, to pick up a split of games on the second day of action at the CBS Insurance Classic.

Munoz (Jr., Bulverde) allowed just two runs on four hits, while walking four to pick up her first win of the season. Moore (Sr., Angleton) went 3-of-5 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored to improve her average to .500 for the season. Lauren Miller (So., Baytown) had the big hit in the first inning as the Rattlers scored four runs to take a lead they would never relinquish. The win broke a six-game losing streak.

In the second game Arlynda Flores (Jr., Uvalde) was the tough luck loser, allowing just one earned run on five hits and two walks, while striking out three. But two Rattler errors allowed three unearned runs to score and Jami McAdoo allowed just one run on five hits in a complete game win.

With the split the Rattlers improved to 3-7 this season. Northeastern State is 0-6, while Southeastern Oklahoma State is 8-1. The Rattlers will wrap up play in the tournament on Saturday.
