Laredo – Arlynda Flores smashed three homeruns at the plate and tossed a five-hit shutout on the mound, while Taryn Munoz tossed a three-hit shutout in the second game as St. Mary’s University crushed Texas A&M-International University, 10-0, 11-0, in a Heartland Conference softball doubleheader Friday afternoon.

Flores (Jr., Uvalde) went a combined 7-of-8 with three homeruns, nine RBI and four runs scored in the doubleheader. She has 20 homeruns this season. Kelly Baker (So., Arlington) had five hits and drove in four runs in the doubleheader.

On the mound Flores improved to 10-10 this season, allowing just five hits and two walks in five innings in the first game. In the second game Munoz (Jr., Bulverde) allowed just three hits and one walk, while striking out four to improve to 12-12 on the mound.

With the sweep the Rattlers are now 23-24 overall this season and 14-4 in Heartland Conference play. TAMIU is 22-18, 11-7. St. Mary’s will host its annual alumni game at Rattler Field on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rattlers will return to action on Tuesday when they host Tarleton State University in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at Rattler Field.
