San Antonio – Jeremy Tietze and a pair of relievers worked their way in and out of trouble, but held St. Mary’s University to just three runs in an 8-3 Angelo State University victory in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium.

Tietze improved to 3-1 this season, allowing two runs on nine hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings of work. Craig Blair and Jeffrey Asby each had up-and-down relief appearances, but the Rattlers left 12 runners on base in the loss. Ben Odom (Jr., Richmond) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Jonathon Cisneros (Jr., San Antonio) went 3-for-5, while Michael Brzezinski (Sr., Helotes), Colin Stock (So., Klamath Falls, Ore.) and Grant Harrelson (So., San Antonio) each had two hits to lead the offense for the Rattlers.

With the loss St. Mary’s fell to 17-10 this season. Angelo State improved to 21-8. The Rattlers will return to action on Friday when they host Texas A&M-International University in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
