HORSESHOE BAY – Ursula Perez fired a final round 77 to finish third individually, helping St. Mary’s University to a second place finish at the Heartland Conference Women’s Golf Championship, Tuesday at the Slick Rock Golf Course.

Perez (So., San Antonio) finished the tournament with a 155, nine strokes behind Emily Kvinta of St. Edward’s University and six strokes behind Kirby Baker of St. Edward’s. Heather Wilbur and Christa Williams of Dallas Baptist University tied with Perez for third place.

Amanda Anderson (Sr., San Antonio) finished sixth overall, shooting a two-round total of 157. Jenna Wessels (Jr., Katy) was 14th with a 169, Marie Hulsey (Jr., El Paso) was 17th with a 173 and Erika Patterson (Fr., San Antonio) finished 19th with a 177.

In the team standings St. Edward’s won the team championship with a two-round total of 607, followed by St. Mary’s with a 652. Newman University was third with a 671, the University of the Incarnate Word was fourth with a 690, Oklahoma Panhandle State University was fifth with a 763, Texas A&M International University was sixth with a 915 and Dallas Baptist University was forced to withdraw when three of their players became sick.
