San Antonio – St. Mary’s University baseball player Tyler Migl was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week for his play last week against Newman University, it was announced by the league office on Thursday.

Migl (Fr., San Antonio) helped the Rattlers to a 4-1 week last week with his best performance as a Rattler. He hit .533 with two doubles, two RBI and five runs scored. He had at least one hit in all five games, including three against Tarleton State on Tuesday. He had two hits against Newman in the series opener. For the season Migl is hitting .333 with nine doubles, 23 RBI and 29 runs scored.

Migl’s honor marked the sixth time this season that a Rattler has received Heartland Conference honors and the third time that a Rattler has earned Hitter of the Week recognition. Michael Brzezinski earned Hitter of the Week honors twice. Courtney Behrend (Jr., Comfort), Scott Shimek (Sr., Shiner) and Braxton Watson (Sr., Spring) have all been named Pitcher of the Week.

St. Mary’s is now 30-14 overall and 26-11 in Heartland Conference play. The Rattlers will return to action this Friday when they host a key Heartland Conference series against cross-town rival the University of the Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium.
