San Antonio–Metropolitan State College completed a perfect run through the St. Mary’s/Texas MedClinic Invitational, defeating St. Mary’s University, 25-22, 25-19, 25-11, in volleyball action Saturday afternoon at Bill Greehey Arena.

The Rattlers played toe-to-toe with the Roadrunners in the first two sets, but struggled down the stretch at MSC picked up tough wins. Metro State used a big early run to cruise to the win in the third set.

Leading the way for St. Mary’s was Kirsten Champman (So., Jourdanton), who had eight kills and three blocks. Stephanie Flores (So., San Antonio) had 14 digs defensively. For Metro State Bri Morley had 11 kills to lead the offense, while Amy Watanabe had 12 digs to lead the defense.

In other action at the tournament on Saturday, Metro State defeated 16th-ranked Florida Southern, 25-14, 25-17, 17-25, 25-20. The University of Central Oklahoma defeated Millersville, 25-15, 25-16, 25-12. Florida Southern defeated Millersville, 25-10, 25-16, 25-16. St. Mary’s will return to action on Wednesday, September 2, when they travel south to face Texas A&M University Kingsville in a non-conference at 7 p.m.
