San Antonio – Marcin Marczewski picked up the lone individual victory as St. Mary’s University fell to Trinity University in non-conference men’s tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Trinity University Tennis Courts.

Trinity, ranked 14th in the nation in NCAA Division III, won four of the six matches in straight sets and swept the three doubles matches. Marczewski (Fr., Gwiazozista, Poland) put the Rattlers on the board with a 6-2, 6-4, win at number two doubles over Bobby Cocanaugher. Marczewski leads the Rattlers with a 14-4 singles record this season.

Marcos Villarreal (Jr., Corpus Christi) nearly matched that, but fell in three sets to John Runge at number three, 6-2, 6-7, 10-6. Villarreal fell to 11-6 in singles with the loss, the second best record on the squad.

With the loss, the Rattlers finished the regular season with a 7-8 record, while Trinity is now 11-7. St. Mary’s will advance to the Heartland Conference Tournament on April 24-25 at the University of the Incarnate Word against an opponent to be determined.
