San Antonio – Preston Akromis shot a second round 74 to tie for 41st individually, helping St. Mary’s University to an 11th place standing after the second round of the NCAA Midwest/South Central Regional, played at The Meadows Golf Club.

Akromis (Sr., San Antonio) has a two-round total of 149 (75-74) to tie for 41st overall after two rounds of the tournament Sam Jernigan (Fr., San Antonio) shot an opening round 70, but slipped to a second round 79 to also tie for 41st place individually. Steve Cuzzort of Wayne State University continues to lead the tournament with a two-round total of 136 (67-69). Two strokes back is Justin Hueber of the University of Indianapolis at 138 (73-65), while Justin Yoder of Central Missouri University is third at 130 (70-69).

Matt Vela (So., San Antonio) is one stroke behind Akromis and Jernigan at 150 (75-75), as is Jeff Rein (So., Garden Ridge), who shot a second round 74 to tie for 49th with a 150 (76-74). Alex Mauer (Sr., St. Louis, Mo.) rebounded from a tough first round to shoot a second round 76 with a 156 (80-76).

In the team standings Wayne State continues to enjoy a comfortable lead with a 562 (278-284), 10 strokes ahead of Northeastern State University (291-281 – 572). Ferris State is third with a 578 (292-286). St. Mary’s is 11th with a two-round total of 595 (296-299).

The NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Regional will conclude on Wednesday with the third round at The Meadows.
