San Antonio – Arlynda Flores smacked two homeruns to lead the offensive attack and Taryn Munoz picked up her third win of the season as St. Mary’s University split a doubleheader against Abilene Christian, 1-5, 11-3, in non-conference softball action Tuesday night at Rattler Field.

Flores (Jr., Uvalde) gave the Rattlers the lead in the first inning when she smacked a line drive over the right-centerfield wall for a two-run homerun. She went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored in the game. She also had a solo homerun for the only run in the first game of the doubleheader. Kelly Baker (So., Arlington) later added her team-high fifth homerun of the season as the Rattlers run-ruled the Wildcats.

Munoz (Jr., Bulverde) allowed three runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out two to improve to 3-6 this season. Jacque Gregoire took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits to fall to 7-2.

In the first game of the day, three runs in the sixth inning broke open a tie game as Abilene won 5-1. Flores took the loss for the Rattlers, going the distance in the loss to fall to 2-5 this season. Lauren Miller (So., Baytown) had two base hits in the loss.

With the split the Rattlers are now 6-13 this season. ACU is now 11-6. St. Mary’s will be off until next Tuesday when they travel to Stephenville to face Tarleton State University in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
