KINGSVILLE – The 13th-ranked St. Mary’s University Rattlers remained red-hot, rolling past Texas A&M University-Kingsville, 17-7, in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at Nolan Ryan Field.

The Rattlers wasted no time in getting on track against the Javelinas. In the second inning the Rattlers started off with three straight singles on their way to sending 12 batters to the plate. They scored eight runs on seven hits, keyed by a two-run double from Grant Harrelson (So., San Antonio) as they took a lead that they would never relinquish. They added four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings and the game was stopped after seven innings due to the run rule.

Seven of the nine Rattler field starters had at least one hit with five picking up two or more base knocks. Reagan Moczygemba (So., Bulverde) went 3-of-4 with six RBI. Jonathon Cisneros (Jr., San Antonio) also had three hits and scored three runs. Colin Stock (So., Klamath Falls, Ore.) smacked his first homerun of the season.

On the mound Alfonso Maldonado (Jr., Laredo) earned his second win of the season. He allowed two runs on six hits, while striking out five in 4 2/3 innings of work to improve to 2-0.

The Rattlers reached double figures in scoring in a single game for the fourth time in six games this season.

With the win the Rattlers are now 6-0 this season. TAMUK fell to 1-1 this season. They will hit the road to play a four-game Heartland Conference series at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin this Friday and Saturday in Odessa. Start time for both days is noon.
