San Antonio – St. Mary’s University softball player Kelly Baker was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week for her play at the CBS Insurance Classic last weekend, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Baker (So., Arlington) had her best week of the season, hitting .500, with three doubles, a triple, two homeruns, seven RBI and four runs scored. She had hits in four of the six games, including two multiple hit games. She set a career-high with four hits in four at-bats, including two doubles. She also went 3-for-3 with two homeruns, four RBI and two runs scored against Abilene Christian. She also walked six times to give her a .625 on-base percentage. For the season Baker is hitting .344 with four doubles, two homeruns, nine RBI, six runs scored and a .488 on-base percentage.

Baker is the first Rattler to earn Heartland Conference honors this season. The Rattlers are 3-7 overall this season and will return to action this weekend when they travel to Durant, Okla., for the South Central Shootout Tournament, hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
