TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – St. Mary’s University scored just 21 points in the second half and suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Northeastern State University, 76-54, in non-conference women’s basketball action Thursday night.

While the Rattlers struggled from the field, the Riverhawks hit on 64.3 percent (27-42) of their shots from the field. For the game St. Mary’s hit on 39.6 percent (21-53). The Rattlers were also outrebounded by NSU, 36-22 and committed 17 turnovers.

Natalie Gamez (Sr., San Antonio) led the way for the Rattlers with 16 points, while Farren Fox (Jr., Marble Falls) had 12 points. Rachel Jones (Sr., Little Rock, Ark.) was the only other Rattler to score in double figures with 10 points. Alix Perkins led all players with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field.

With the loss the Rattlers fell to 2-1 overall, while the Riverhawks improved to 1-2. St. Mary’s will return to action on Saturday when they wrap up their season-opening four-game road trip against Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 6 p.m. in Durant, Okla.
