PORTALES, N.M. – Adam Villanueva’s goal in the 61st minute was the only score of the game as St. Mary’s University defeated Eastern New Mexico University, 1-0, in non-conference men’s soccer action Friday afternoon.

Villanueva (Jr., DeSoto) deflected a free kick into the goal for his first goal of the season in the 61st minute of the game. The goal gave the Rattlers the win after they had dominated play throughout. St. Mary’s outshot the Greyhounds 15-4 and ENMU did not get a shot on goal in the game.

Brett Collier (Jr., Schertz) picked up his second straight shutout and lowered his goals-against average to 1.29 for the season. ENMU goalkeeper Peter Horak made five saves, but took the loss.

With the win the Rattlers won their second straight game and improved to 3-4 overall this season. ENMU fell to 3-3-2 with the loss. St. Mary’s will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Canyon to face West Texas A&M University at 3:30 p.m.
